Privacy notice

Who we are

[Campaign organisation's registered name] (“the campaign”, “we”) runs this website for Kollo Baba Jiya’s campaign, as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the Senate seat of Kwara North Senatorial District. We are the data controller for the personal data you give us. Contact us at [privacy contact email] or [Postal address].

What we collect

When you sign up to volunteer we collect:

  • your name and phone number, and your email address if you give it
  • your gender and age range
  • your Local Government Area, ward and, optionally, polling unit
  • the ways you would like to help
  • the date and time you gave consent

Because you are volunteering for a political campaign, this information shows your political support. The Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 treats political opinion as sensitive personal data, so we only collect it with your explicit consent and protect it accordingly.

To keep out automated sign-ups, Cloudflare Turnstile checks your browser when you submit the form, and we temporarily record a scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address to limit repeated submissions. We do not store your IP address itself.

Why we use it

  • to contact you by phone, SMS, WhatsApp or email about volunteering
  • to organise volunteers by LGA, ward and polling unit
  • to understand how many people support the campaign in each area

Our legal basis is your consent. We will not use your details for anything unrelated to this campaign, and we never sell them.

Who can see it

Authorised members of the campaign team. Ward and LGA coordinators can only see volunteers in their own LGA. Every export of volunteer data is recorded in an audit log.

[Describe any sharing with PDP party structures, e.g. ward or state party offices, or delete this sentence.]

We do not give your details to any other campaign or party.

Our service providers process data on our behalf under contract: Supabase (database hosting, located in [Supabase project region, e.g. EU (Frankfurt)]), Vercel (website hosting) and Cloudflare (bot protection). Where data is stored outside Nigeria, we rely on the safeguards required by the Act for cross-border transfers.

How long we keep it

We keep your details until [date, e.g. six months after the general election], then delete them, unless you ask us to delete them sooner.

How we protect it

Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, access is restricted by role and location, and the public website cannot read the volunteer database.

Your rights

You can ask us to:

  • tell you what data we hold about you and give you a copy
  • correct anything that is wrong
  • delete your data
  • stop contacting you, by withdrawing your consent at any time

Email [privacy contact email] and we will respond within the time the law requires. Withdrawing consent does not affect anything we did before you withdrew it. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.
